The  semester overseas program in Senegal is open to  Boren Scholars and  Fellows. In general, these students must meet the following conditions:

  • U.S. citizenship at the time of the Boren national application deadline
  • Demonstrated personal qualities such as maturity, open-mindedness, and flexibility to participate in the exchange program
  • Must be at level 1+ on the ILR scale
  • Must participate in the summer intensive program at The University of Florida
  • A high school graduate, or have earned a GED
  • Matriculated for the duration of their Boren Awards-funded program in an undergraduate or graduate degree program located within the United States and accredited by a body recognized by the U.S. Department of Education
  • (For ROTC cadets and midshipmen and members of the military Reserves or National Guard) In inactive, non-drilling status for the duration of their Boren Awards-funded program
